Toolbars

The Toolbars in mineCAD enable the user to access program functionality with a minimum of effort.

The presence of each of the toolbars in the menu can be toggled on and off through the Menu path of Tools | Customize | Toolbars tab.

Clicking in the toggle-box to the left of the name so that a tick appears, or double-clicking on the name of the toolbar, will activate the toolbar in the design window.  Toolbars that have been selected are seen in the design window while the Customize dialog box is open - this can be used to assist the user in determining the toolbar or combination of toolbars matching their requirements.

The Menu Bar is ALWAYS present above the design window - its display cannot be toggled off.  This bar allows access to all aspects of the mineCAD functionality regardless of which toolbars are active in the design window.

The Layer Manipulation toolbar controls the presence of Layers in the design window - it is a shortcut to the Edit | Objects functionality, and also the right-click pop-up when in the Layer Control Tree-view.

The Standard toolbar is recognizable to all Microsoft users.  It contains the majority of the functionality held in the File and Edit menu paths - for example, the Save, Print, Cut, Copy and Paste functions.

The Zoom toolbar contains the functionality of the View | Zoom & Pan menu paths.  It forms part of the controls governing what is seen by the user in the design window.

The Move View Plane toolbar functions are also contained in the View | View Move menu path.  They allow the user to specify a distance to move the view plane forward or backwards.  Note:  the view in the design window may not vary under this command but a dialog in the lower left-hand corner of the design window will display the cenx, ceny and cenz (i.e. center) co-ordinates of the plane in space as it is moved.

The 3D Views toolbar is generally located on the right of the design window.  It contains the functionality to allow the user to apply one of ten standard 3-dimensional viewpoints to the design.  These viewpoints can also be assigned with the use of the View | 3D Views menu path.

The Entity Display toolbar is generally located on the left of the design window, and gives the user control over display functions such as the wireframing and shading of objects.  The functionality can also be called through the menu path of View | Entity Display.

The View toolbar is also generally located on the right of the design window, and contains a good deal of the View menu path functionality.  The Redraw function will redraw the screen as it is, and the Regen function will redraw the screen updating any changes to text and/or dimensioning styles etc.

The Dimension toolbar allows the user to insert dimensions in the design window.  The functionality can also be accessed through the Draw | Dimension menu path.

The Annotation toolbar allows the user to insert annotations in the design window.  The functionality can also be accessed through the Draw | Annotation menu path.

The Draw toolbar contains shortcuts to the drawing aids in mineCAD - these are held in the Draw menu path and

The Modify Polylines toolbar holds the functionality of the Modify | Polylines menu - it enables the user to perform a variety of modifications on existing polylines.

The Modify Entity toolbar contains the major functionality of the Modify menu and allows the user to move, rotate, scale etc. selected objects.

The Query toolbar allows the user to query the distance between two points and will also return the Azimuth and Dip of a line joining them.  The menu path is Tools | Query to initiate this function.

The Help toolbar is a shortcut to the Help system of MineCAD - it allows access to the Contents, Search and Tip of the Day Help functions.

The Filters toolbar contains the functionality of the Modify | Filters menu and allows the user to Apply, Edit or Remove filters

The Section Definitions toolbar enables the user to set a view based on a selected Section Definition, or to create a Section Definition based on the current view.  The menu path View | Section Definitions

The Snapping toolbar displays the active snapping mode(s) of mineCAD's Modify | Entity Snapping commands.

The Clipping toolbar displays the

Note To remove a separator bar between two buttons, drag one button closer to the other.

Displaying only the commands and buttons that you use

Microsoft Office automatically customizes menus and toolbars based on how often you use the commands. When you first start an Office program, only the most basic commands appear. Then, as you work, the menus and toolbars adjust so that only the commands and toolbar buttons you use most often appear.

Displaying all the commands on a menu

To look for a command that you don't use often or have never used before, click the arrows at the bottom of the menu to show all the commands. You can also double-click the menu to expand it. When you expand one menu, all of the menus are expanded until you choose a command or perform another action. When you click a command on the expanded menu, the command is immediately added to the short version of the menu. If you do not use the command often, it is dropped from the short version of the menu.

Positioning toolbars on the same row

Toolbars can be positioned next to each other in the same row. For example, the Standard toolbar is positioned next to the Formatting toolbar when you first start a Microsoft Office program. When you put multiple toolbars in the same row, there might not be enough room to display all of the buttons. If there isn't enough room, the buttons that you have used most recently are displayed.

Seeing all of the toolbar buttons

You can resize to display more buttons, or you can show all buttons on a toolbar. To see a list of buttons that won't fit on a built-in, docked toolbar, click Toolbar Options at the end of the toolbar. When you use a button that is not displayed on the toolbar, that button is moved to the toolbar, and a button that has not been used recently is dropped to the Toolbar Options list.

Customizing menus and toolbars

You can customize menus and toolbars yourself; you can add and remove buttons and menus on toolbars, create your own custom toolbars, hide or display toolbars, and move toolbars. You can customize the menu bar the same way you customize any built-in toolbar — for example, you can quickly add and remove buttons and menus on the menu bar — but you can't hide the menu bar.
