Options

The Tools | Options dialog contains six tabs that allow the user to re-define certain system defaults.

Design Window Options

The user is able to specify the colors and sizes (in Model Space units) of construction objects within the design window.  These construction objects include the Cursor, Grips, and Snapping Marker.

The user can also define their preferred color for the background of the design window.

Auto-expansion of the structure in the Layer Control tree can be enabled so that all nodes are maximized at all times.

The units for Model Space co-ordinates - and therefore distances - can also be defined.  This also specifies the standard units used in the plotting functions.

Locations Options

File locations can be browsed and selected through the browser options available for each of External Titleblocks, Blocks and Templates.

The Mine2-4D UserList location can also be set from within this tab of the dialog.

Toggles are also provided for the automatic connection to the Mine2-4D Design Manager and/or the Plot Manager.  If the Plot Manager is being utilized in the project then this toggle provides a time-saving feature that should be exploited.

General Options

mineCAD has incorporated the ability to use SHX fonts, which has allowed for improved AutoCAD integration.  This ability can be toggled ON and OFF in this tab of the Options menu - by default, the option is set to ON.  To add other SHX fonts refer to Fonts\SHX under the application directory.

The disabling of Entity Drawing Events should only be used when loading large drawing files.  When the checkbox is toggled ON, dependencies will be shown without arrows, arrows will not have heads, true inserts will not be rotated to the current view etc.  The benefit of this is that drawings will load significantly faster.  This option is saved into the project file.  By default, it is set to OFF.

Saving Options

The Auto-Save feature can be toggled ON and OFF, and the duration between automatic saves can be defined by the user.

The Creation, and the subsequent Location, of a back-up copy of the project file can also be specified as required by the user.

WebUpdate Options

An automatic system update over the internet can be performed whenever the application is executed.  An option is provided to specify the number of times that the application can be started before the webupdate is performed. Only values greater than zero and less than 999 are allowed.

The Configure Connection button is provided to allow firewall and other web connection settings to be specified for the update.  This feature is also provided in the initial webupdate dialog if selected through the pull down menu Help | Check for Updates.

Admin Options

Note:  This tab is only visible to users who have been allocated Administrator rights.

The enabling of the writeback feature - i.e. the writing of imported files that have been modified in mineCAD BACK to the original data source - can be toggled OFF through this administration tab of the dialog.  This feature is administrator protected to limit user access and minimize the potential for loss of data - write back should NOT be performed if the imported file is being assessed in the original data source at the same time as it is being accessed in mineCAD.

It is also possible to automatically redefine white colors in a Mine2-4D file.
